Après des études supérieures d’économie à Paris II, il entre au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris où il étudie la contrebasse avec Jean‐François Jenny‐Clark, Riccardo Del Fra et Jean Paul Celea. Ses premiers engagements l’amènent à intégrer le quartet de Steve Potts et à devenir le premier bassiste du Paris Jazz Big Band.

Depuis une dizaine d’année, Stéphane Kerecki s’est révélé au travers de ses participations dans les groupes de Denis Colin, Guillaume de Chassy, Yaron Herman, Daniel Humair, François Jeanneau, Sheila Jordan, Steve Lehman, Ronnie Lynn Patterson, Michel Portal, Thomas Savy, Jacky Terrasson.

Par ailleurs, il est gratifié en 2001 du 2e prix de Soliste au Concours International de Jazz de Paris La Défense  en 2005, le magazine «Jazzman» le classe parmi les "125 talents pour demain".

Depuis 2003, il dirige son propre trio formé avec le saxophoniste Matthieu Donarier et le batteur Thomas Grimmonprez.

Il enregistre deux disques avec ce trio « Story Tellers » et « Focus Danse » pour lesquels il reçoit de nombreuses récompenses : Grand Prix 2007 de l’Académie Charles Cros, Disque d’Emoi de l’année 2007 (Jazz Magazine), Choc du Monde de la Musique ….... Son 3e opus "Houria" invite le saxophoniste américain Tony Malaby à se joindre au trio. Ce disque est nommé aux victoires du Jazz 2009 dans la catégorie "révélation instrumentale" et remporte un vif succès auprès de la profession. Ce quartet est aujourd’hui très actif et se produit dans toute l’Europe.

En 2010, Il poursuit sa collaboration avec le label Zig-Zag territoires en enregistrant pour ce label un nouveau projet avec le pianiste anglais John Taylor.

After his studies in Economics in Paris, Stéphane Kerecki entered the National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris (CNSMDP) where he studied the Double bass with Jean-François Jenny-Clark, Riccardo Del Fra and Jean Paul Celea. At the same time, he joined Steve Potts’s quartet and became a member of the Paris Jazz Big Band.

Stéphane made a name for himself by playing in the bands of Denis Colin, Guillaume de Chassy, Yaron Herman, Daniel Humair, François Jeanneau, Sheila Jordan, Steve Lehman, Ronnie Lynn Patterson, Michel Portal, Thomas Savy, Jacky Terrasson.

In addition, he has won numerous awards including First Prize from CNSMDP, and Second Prize for Best Soloist in the International Jazz Competition in Paris La Defense in 2001 (only bass Player awarded). In 2005, the magazine Jazzman counted him among the "125 talents of tomorrow" .

Since 2003, he is leading his own trio, composed by saxophonist Matthieu Donarier and drummer Thomas Grimmonprez. The third Opus of the trio "Houria" invites the american saxophonist Tony Malaby to join the band. This CD is nominated for the french awards "victoires du Jazz 2009" in the "instrumental revelation" category, and has had a strong success in the jazz community. This band is now very active and plays through all Europe.

In 2010, He continues his work with the French label “Zig-Zag territories” by recording a new project with the English piano player John Taylor.
